An amazing concert last week!

Went to hear The Wailin' Jennys at the Alix Goolden Hall last Wednesday and they were stunning. New members Heather Masse and Jeremy Penner really round out the sound, and they never cease to amaze me with the harmonies and song choices. Their a capella version of The Parting Glass always leaves me on the floor.

What a great way to ease the transition from fall into winter. This is one of the hardest-working bands in roots music. Don't miss them if they come your way.

And of course great music reminds me of fine wine, so I figure it's time to switch to an autumnal wine with some warmth and body to it. I've discovered a truly spectacular and very juicy organic Malbec from a lovely place in Argentina called the Tupungato Valley -- very poetic, and very yummy. Let's hear it for Argentina!

A couple of pics to make one smile:

From the archives of the London Zoo.
These were taken in 1914 and I swear these two bear a striking resemblance to Tigger and Pooh...
