BIG NEWS!

I don't believe it... my passport arrived in the mail today!
The massive passport-renewal bottleneck had me very worried that I wouldn't be able to go to Nashville at the end of the month. So here we are with 20 days to spare -- and no flight cancellations are required.

Life has been a bit insane lately, so I had to take a mental health break at a little slice of heaven on earth - Cabin A at Point-No-Point in Sooke. Wind and waves, the fireplace, jacuzzi tub, sunshine and private woods with beach did wonders for healing the spirit. Ahhh...

I'm down with some nasty flu bug at the moment, but hope to get my motivation back really soon. I managed to finish a song when I was at the cabin - it's about my friend Charlie who passed away a couple of years ago after many decades of being a wonderful husband to my best pal Polly. It was very tough and it's taken me a long time to process it down to words and music, but I think it's almost ready for sharing.

What I've been reading...

Year of Magical Thinking / Joan Didion.
:: Read this if you're ever in the mood to feel sorry for yourself... ::

Walking after midnight : one woman's journey through murder, justice and forgiveness /
Katy Hutchison.
:: I've had the pleasure of working with Katy and she is one remarkable amazing woman. ::

Middlemarch / George Eliot
:: Slowly chewing my way through this wonderful novel. ::

Listening to:

Prairie Home Companion on KPLU - heard Randy Newman doing a song I've never heard before, something about the Mighty Nations of Europe Coming Through. Hilarious!

While driving to Sooke I heard the new Brad Paisley song called "Ticks"
If it was anyone but him it would be in poor taste, but Paisley is just too darn cute for words -- can't wait to see the video!
